GENS: Global Exchange Network for Students.
Founded in June 2007, supported by Students Activity Center, School of Foreign Languages as well as Office of International Affairs of Peking University, GENS provides an excellent platform for young people from all over the world to know more about China. Meanwhile, every year dozens of Peking University students are given opportunities to go aboard and enjoy the amazing outside world.
As a new member of International Week Coordinating Organization (IWCO), we first introduced the “International Week Program” into China which originated in Europe and is enjoying more and more participation around the world. Since GENS entered the big IWCO family, a tight and firm bond has been established between GENS and the other 30 over members. GENS, together with the other IWCO members is working towards the same goal, that is to establish worldwide acknowledged network of international week organizations that promotes intercultural exchange of business, academic, cultural and social issues between students. Therefore, GENS is taking an active part in the international student exchange programs by hosting three China International Week a year as well as sending more and more Peking University students to other International Week Program.
International Week China:
IW China is a great platform for realizing a real China. We have two IWChina every year. one is IW China Spring Program, which is hold from Feb.10th to Feb 18th. the other one is IW China Summer Program, which is from August.28th to Sep.5th.
To show you an image about the huge country’s culture, we arrange 9 days during the program, of each day we have a theme, that include Welcoming Day,Culture Day, History Day, Economic Day, Art Day, Education Day, Short Trip, Leisure Day
the Welcoming Day, a great ceremony will be hold to welcome all the participant from the whole world and develop the friendship between foreign and local students; the Culture day, which will show you the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven; History Day, which will show you the famous Great Wall, and other sightseeings with long long history; Economic Day, we arrange two task and lecture to give an image of both micro and macro economics of China nowadays; Art Day, on which we gona go to the 798 art industry to see how the modern artist work and go to the artists building to see how the traditional Chinese folk art is;
the Education Day, we study together and experience Chinese Education, and what’s more we discuss about the education systerm from country to country; the Short Trip, we will go to a place outside Beijing, and have international dinner(the greatest moment~) there; Leisure Day, everybody is free to go anywhere you want to, and that night we have Farewell Party and last crazy clubbing~~
of course we arrange “night activities” everyday during the whole program, like fantastic clubbing in beijing and massage, and Karaoke as well~~
